Canada Water Cafe, Ebay, Startup Tribe

Slow start to the day. Quick chat on Facebook with SM and ST at around 9am.

A accredited assessor of Energy Performance Certificate popped by the flat for the check at 9.30 am as the landlord is selling the flat.

After the assessment was done headed over to Canada Water Cafe to work on my site whilst waiting to hand over the Golf Putter I sold on ebay.

Stayed at the cafe for about 3 hours and handed over the Golf Putter and decided it was a good time to do some shopping before heading back to the flat for lunch. Popped by Sainsbury’s and the veggie/fruit stand outside the Canada Water Library. Chatted to one of the guys at the veggie/fruit stand and found he was an Afghan. As I had been to the talk the previous night by Tommy from Turqouise Mountain started to talk to him about the cause but probably due to his hard time in the past, he wasn’t ready to open up.

Had a late lunch at home and due to the fact I wasnt feeling well went for a nap.

Headed over to the Startup tribe at Escape for an interesting night of ideas and getting to know the team.

Overall a slow day but I still feel like I achieved a few things.

HEV, Hep B, Roomap, WordPress, Architect, Afghanistan

Morning catch up with my biz partner at HEV. Things are very exciting and Im looking forward to whats to come!

No more Hep B jabs for another year after getting my 3rd Jab!  Had a good talk with my nurse SA about Nepal and information on which BBC programs to watch next.

An hour and half skype chat with ST of Roomap about future ideas.

Went back to playing around with this WordPress site and trying out a simple HTML & CSS layout on a Trial page (try and look for the index.html page 😉

Met up with JK an Architect friend at Leong’s Legend for dinner. Talked about future projects or collaboration we could work on.

Went to a talk by TW from Turqouise Mountain about Culture and Conflict in Afghanistan at the Imperial War Museum. Very well presented talk by someone who I knew when they were 13.

Overall a productive day, wish I could do a bit more on the UX side as Im not happy with it. Think I need to change around the CSS and the PHP code on the theme.

Redundancy, Google Campus, Ballet Dancer to WordPress expert.

This morning caught up with MD @ Shutterburg in Shoreditch for Breakfast. The layout of Shutterburg is like a bar with a 90s feel. Shutterburg served good blueberry pancakes at an affordable price, their coffee was ok, I prefer Monmouth coffee from Central America which tend to be nutty. Had a good chat with MD on my projects and about redundancy packages.

UK Redundancy packages:

  1. Company/HR to tell the employee of what people normally get and if the package is above that offer.
  2. 1 Year work = 1 month payout is whats mostly offered in Financial companies.
  3. Some companies provide support like courses at Penna.

After Breakfast went over to Google Campus to make use of the wi-fi and work on this blog/ site. Around 12.30 whilst at Campus got peckish and had my packed lunch sandwich (after leaving banking, I have been really economising, taking less public transport and making my own food).

At 2pm, headed over to Urban Tea Room on Kingly Street near Carnaby Street to meet up with a professional Ballet Dancer friend SK. We talked about how she could gain more presence online with her own website and she’s going to start learning WordPress soon! Hope she can enjoy learning the CMS as much as I have.
